American Inventor

Sunday, August 5th, 2007

America decided the new American inventor and a firefighter from Camarillo, California Greg Chavez got most of the votes. He invented “Guardian Angel”. Wondering what it is? Actually it is a Christmas package that is placed under a Christmas tree and attached to a small hose leading to the top of the tree where a fusible link is disguised as an angel. The heat from a fire pops the link and water suppresses the fire. There is an alarm that can work without battery intended to suppress (not fully extinguish) a Christmas tree fire and sound an alarm to get people out of the house alive. Probably that is why he won the $1,000,000 because of the fact that it can save lives. But aside from the 1 million, First alert will help his dreams come into reality.

Second placer Elaine Cato, a realtor from Tennessee, invented Annette’s convertible bra, it is a 6-In-1 Convertible Brassiere. It accommodates all frames of women. The full back can be exposed because it doesn’t have a mid section. Even though she doesn’t won, Maiden form will help her  invention to succeed.

Third placer Ricky DeRennaux, a school-teacher from Oklahoma invented the HT Racers, it is a custom vehicle designed and fabricated through the use of computers and patented tools. It allows individuals and groups ages 13 and up to build and design remote controlled vehicles. Spin Master will help him see his products in store shelves.

Congratulations to the winner and all the brilliant and passionate inventors who joined this season’s American Inventor.
