Beckett suffers setback in recovery
After receiving several hours of treatment on his lower back Monday morning, Red Sox right-hander Josh Beckett was not optimistic about the condition of his back.
Beckett said his back felt worse Monday than it did Sunday, a day after experiencing back spasms before his scheduled Grapefruit League start against the Marlins on Saturday.
“Today wasn’t as good a day as yesterday,” Beckett said. “We’ll just have to wait and see, I guess. [The] doctors actually told me yesterday that there was a possibility I would come in and feel like I do today. So as far as that goes, the doctors were right.”
