What happened to the Suns?

Friday, April 25th, 2008

The Phoenix Suns once again to be the fastest pace in the league, less than a week in the playoffs, and they already have in their day of reckoning. Three games is awful fast to a team with championship ambitions to find its survival is at stake, but let’s be real: Down 2-0 in the series, the Suns if not higher than the San Antonio Spurs tonight , Phoenix disposal on a matter when, not if.

The Suns tried remake themselves in the ultimate hybrid: The size of an SUV, but still fast before the line - and fuel efficient, too. But sometimes when you try anything, it makes you into nothing. In the boiler of a road playoff game with the foothills of the application of heat, the Suns were able to… what?

Shaquille O’Neal in the low post? Steve Nash and Amare Stoudemire in the pick-and-roll? Leandro Barbosa’s speed? The threat of the 3-point shot? None of these things define the Suns. This group has not been long enough together or battles fought alongside each other enough to forge an identity.

Garnett win Defensive Player of the Year

Tuesday, April 22nd, 2008

The NBA announced Tuesday that the Boston Celtics’ Kevin Garnett has won the 2007-08 NBA Defensive Player of the Year award.

The 6-foot-11 forward averaged 9.2 rebounds, 1.2 blocks and 1.4 steals while chipping in 14.8 points per game for Boston, which ranked second in the league in points allowed (90.3 ppg). The defensive award is the first of his career for the 31-year-old.

Garnett, acquired in a highly-touted 7-for-1 deal in the offseason with Minnesota, led the Celtics to the NBA’s best record (66-16) and the biggest one-year turnaround in NBA history as the Celtics won 42 more games than their 2006-07 campaign (24-58).

Lakers in Solo first in the West

Wednesday, April 16th, 2008

It’s the Los Angeles Lakers that emerge as the top seed in the Wild Wild Western Conference of the NBA by defeating the Sacramento Kings.

They will be facing the 8th seed Denver Nuggets. Let’s see who will win but it’s high time for the Lakers to be in the Finals. And Kobe will be the MVP.

Warriors out of playoffs

Tuesday, April 15th, 2008

For the first time in 175 games since Don Nelson returned the Warriors’ bench, he’ll be coaching a meaningless game.

The Warriors’ regular-season finale Wednesday against visiting Seattle was rendered moot Monday after Golden State was eliminated from the playoffs.

The faint hopes of a second consecutive playoff berth flickered during a third-quarter run where Golden State scored 15 consecutive points, but in the end, too much of Phoenix’s Amare Stoudemire ended the Warriors’ hopes.

A 122-116 loss to the Suns on Monday leaves the Warriors (48-33) one game behind the Denver Nuggets (49-32) and destined to lose a tiebreaker even if they catch up with Wednesday’s regular-season finale. The Warriors are guaranteed of being a historical footnote: The winningest team not to make the playoffs since they expanded to 16 teams in 1983-84.

LeBron James,Libron James, Lehbron Jaems, Lebrun Jammes, LeBrown James, LeBrone Jams, and Lebronn James?

Saturday, April 5th, 2008

LeBron James,Libron James, Lehbron Jaems, Lebrun Jammes, LeBrown James, LeBrone Jams, and Lebronn James?  No matter how you spell the name of LeBron James, he is still one of the best players in the NBA if not the best.

He will be leading the Cleveland Cavaliers again this postseason and try to win it all. Last year they were swept by the Spurs in the NBA Finals.

However, it will be difficult this time to win the East with the emergence of the star studded Boston Celtics. Let’s wait and see how LeBron James will rise to this occasion
