Let’s watch the Wimbledon

Wednesday, June 11th, 2008

I was captivated in tennis sports when Maria Sharapova wins her first major when she defeated Serena Williams in Wimbledon several years ago. Just last year when Sharapova won her second Wimbledon. Wimbledon tournament is approaching as we had watched the game of of Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer just recently at the French Open. Well, we will about to witness again both of these guys if luckily they will be in the finals. We know that Federer loves to play in Wimbledon.

As for me, to see Maria Sharapova in the finals in women’s singles as well as Roger Federer against Rafael Nadal will be the reasons to get Wimbledon debenture tickets. I will be going there personally to watch the games and hopefully I will enjoy it. Wimbledon is the oldest major championship in tennis and is regarded by many to be the most prestigious tennis championship in the world. It’s approaching and I have to get my tickets at TeamOneTickets.com. Surely I will be anticipating a wonderful 2008 Wimbledon Tournament. It’s worth going there to see great actions and feel the atmosphere.

PARIS — Amelie Mauresmo held her nerve and her serve when it counted Tuesday, reaching the second round of the French Open by defeating Olga Savchuk 7-5, 4-6, 6-1 in a match disrupted by rain.

Tennis fans are open to the thought of better weather in Paris, where the French Open has felt rain each of the first three days of play.

Mauresmo, who missed the Italian and German Opens because of a rib injury, looked shaky much of her time on center court.
The start of play Tuesday was delayed 2 hours, 50 minutes because of rain, but Svetlana Kuznetsova and Dinara Safina reached the second round before another rain delay of nearly three hours.

When play resumed, No. 14 Agnieszka Radwanska defeated Mariya Koryttseva 6-4, 6-3.

Each of the first three days of the French Open has been affected by rain, but Tuesday was the worst yet, with less than three hours of play the entire day. Only 13 matches were completed, five from the men’s tournament and eight from the women’s.

Roger Clements is not welcome in the Olympics

Wednesday, May 7th, 2008

Roger Clemens isn’t welcome on the U.S. Olympic baseball team. U.S. general manager Bob Watson said Wednesday that he isn’t considering the 45-year-old right-hander for his roster for the Beijing Games.

“From my standpoint, we don’t need that type of distraction,” Watson said.

In addition to his duties as vice president of on-field operations for Major League Baseball, Watson is general manager of professional baseball operations for USA Baseball and works to select manager Davey Johnson’s roster.

A former GM of the Houston Astros and New York Yankees, Watson said he didn’t anticipate being overruled by higher-ups.
